one hand holds
the poker-faced
anchor's cue cards

others, equally
invisible, act to
regulate manifold
channels of supply

democracy a question
of demand, understood
sentimentally

extortion being too
strong a word

earth certainly
has other plans
for the species

nature
incapable of belief
cannot be bluffed

shows her immense
hand,
a royal flush
but we're already
all-in
