Urbana, IL (Associated Poets): Today Newspoetry.com joined with 178
nations in ratifying the Kyoto protocol, a treaty designed to reduce
emissions responsible for global warming.

Newspoetry's fleet of gas-guzzling SUV's will be replaced with hybrid
electric vehicles, and it will take its coal-powered web server
offline and replace it with a hand-crank-powered server.

Newspoetry broke with its host country in choosing to implement these
changes. "The U.S. interests George W. Bush is trying to protect are
at odds with the interests of poets," Newspoetry spokesperson
R. E. Skinner said in a brief statement.

When asked if rising sea levels, increased hurricane activity,
widespread destruction of wildlife habitats, and the increased spread
of deadly infectious diseases might make for a good sort of
apocalyptic poetry, Skinner had no comment and hastily adjourned the
press conference.
