[Newspoetry] Butterfly in a Hailstorm

Yesterday on CNN and nytimes
.com
Goliath grumbled about a settlement
and, as I sat in a meeting
next to one of a thousand Davids
who once in an act of quiet heorism
patched a Linux kernel bug
I idly picked away at the sticker on my laptop
bearing the windows logo

But it wouldn't come off easily

Today as I read the terms
and between their lines
I began to tear that fucker off in earnest,
risking a torn fingernail

When it was gone I removed every trace
that it had been there

and finally replaced it with a Lisa Frank
sticker of a rainbow-colored butterfly

so delicate
and kinda psychedelic
