In a society ruled by followers
there can be no alliances
powerful interests oppose one another
nobody can afford dissent

Leadership requires that we see
beyond provisional arrangements
to self determination and survival
in a world drained of resources

We can see ourselves now
multipled a thousand-fold
through satellites and sensors
we can decide if this is home
or prison

In a society ruled by victims
there is no honor in dying
no strength in numbers
only the power of ideas
