[Newspoetry] time gloats about "the end of irony"

"the end of irony?"

it's not ironic that op-ed columnists urge people to buy stock from
the owners who just laid them off, out of patriotism?

it's not ironic that terrorists are willing to kill themselves as well
as innocent civilians, whereas supposedly more moral Americans are
only willing to kill others in pursuit of revenge?

it's not ironic that the military is describing this killing as
"infinite justice", when it has caused, allowed, and supported
numerous injustices over its long history and continues to do so?

it's not ironic that a news organization owned by some of the same
companies that profit off of unquestioningly supported war would
scorn any attempt to point out these ironies?
