NEW YORK (Associated Poets): Joe Futrelle's editorship of
Newspoetry.com continued to push major stock indicies to new lows.
Since Futrelle acquired Newspoetry from founding CEO William
Gillespie, the troubled website has been shedding revenue like a
sheepdog in July, leaving investors naked and quivering in ditches by
the side of the proverbial road. And the Dow has followed suit.
Scarcely had Futrelle taken the reins when it began a plunge that has
led it, today, to a five-year low.

Some investors are beginning to wonder if "regime change" may be
necessary at the website, which under Futrelle's leadership continues
to produce only one poem a day with no profits in sight. Advertising
and co-branding deals have failed to materialize, as has a
merchandising plan which was to have included T-shirts but so far has
only resulted in stickers which some investors claim they have never
received. And the site has failed to take advantage of market
analysis suggesting that it move beyond news-based poetry into more
popular subject matter, like love or pets.

Futrelle, for his part, isn't talking. And the scandal that
surrounds him at every step shows no signs of abating.
