Paul K. had a question about the broken document links in my 1954 CIA
coup in Guatemala story,
<http://www.newspoetry.com/1999/991226.html>
This seemed to have occurred not long after the original article was
posted. Then it has changed several times since, making it increasingly
more difficult to find these documents on the CIA's website, but they
are still there.
Here's how to find them on the CIA's crappy website.
Go to this link:
<http://164.109.56.133/special_collections.asp>
Enter <Guatemala> in the search field. This will give you almost 900
entries for Guatemala.
Then hit the link that allows you to "sort by oldest first".
Unfortunately, the CIA Search feature doesn't seem to work by either the
document title or the document #. Kinda makes you wonder how these punks
figure anything out or keep track of it, doesn't it? Must be how that
sama guy fell through the cracks, don't ya know?
You can find each of the articles by paging through the titles, which
all seem to be as they originally were. There's just no way to easily
call them up.
Your taxpayer $$ at work.
Regards,
Mike
