I like citing my sources:
According to an Andrew Bunchie story in TRUTHOUT today, copied from The Independent UK -- and a related story by Rose Aguilar, from AlterNet ----
and also according to a bevy of other such stories, all stigmatic festering wounds of the body politic...

The great divide in American politics is between believers in supernaturalisms and anyone else sensible enough to recognize that supernaturalism -- in all its disguises -- is a wholesale evasion of personal responsibility for the state of the world, for the state of one's own experiences of that world.

Personally, I believe that every being has the inalienable right to a personal and private belief in some supernaturalism. And,. no state nor any other person has the power to interfere in the state of my beliefs, nor such practices as may senselessly, but also harmlessly, attach to said belief.
Such a right to God, if you will, can never be or become a duty -- as the zealots and fundamentalists always seem to think that they can make it. There are always those who want to make me worship their gods -- because it is profitable to them when I follow their gods and abandon my own. Market scarcity is profitable, you see, when it results artificially from the massive slaughters that have been wreaked upon the vast pantheon of gods and goddesses (and of neo-god substitutes) who once allegedly protected and preserved their many and diverse peoples.
The left wing -- ever the champions of the oppressed, of the slaughtered and the abused -- ought to be come the great fighters for the Right to God, as defined above. The Left should become religious zealots -- ready to fight against all the reigning monopolist religions and their market dominances -- and their many refusals to let God be God, such as he (she (it)) might be.
And, in the most recent Supreme Court Declaration of the Constitution's sacred meaning, we find the very opening the Left needs is given to it -- to fight for the Right of God, and to put down all the contemporary bigots masquerading as alleged friends of (some) god(s).
Let the eagles soar, let us go out and attack the right on the very issue of the Right to God -- of how it must be said to be in a civil democracy. Seize all faith, ye who enter here -- you have only a heaven of your own to win.
