Taking a Mile an Inch at a Time...

The process is called acculturation,
in some grand texts of sosilliology.

Or, we could call it creepy creeping,
things that sneak up on you over time,
like the dust of centuries or death.

A mile has 63,360 inches as its feet,
and is walked only one inch at a time,
but we fear a mile's slippery slopes,
as one inch always leads to another,
and we slide down the path of time,
ending where our eyes could not see,
not from places first inches happen.

Zeno had his paradox of gap travel,
it is the rate and not the distance
or its time closing or opening gaps.
The slippery slope itself is nothing,
but how fast the inches slide by us.

The way to cruel torture is there,
open to violent travel inch by inch,
ever more brutal, ever more sadistic,
ever criminally insane and inhumane.
Now we travel at the speed of darkness,
which is opposed to the speed of light,
and into the darkness we can not see,
not where we are, have been or will be.
