[Newspoetry] Elephant

Don,

If I'm reading your poetry correctly, I also read Lakoff's Don't Think
of an Elephant. I dug it.

In the end it's mostly a book to help Democrats write better speeches,
maybe poems; it seems to be more about winning elections than
implementing good policies after winning them, but, that said, I found
it tickled my cortex and made some deep sense.

I read the first version of his Moral Politics, and liked it but
thought it should have been a pamphlet (like Elephant). I'm curious to
know if the second edition has more teeth.

He also revised his extraordinary essay The Metaphor System Used to
Justify War in the Gulf for 2003, but the revision seemed declawed.
Both are online, and are newspoetry material.

Keep the news fires burning,
William
