Physics and Metaphysics

Answers and explanations,
these belong to science,
as one way of knowing
all lying round about us,
within horizon's ellipse,
an expanding frontier,
always enclosing borders.

Questions and speculations,
these belong to philosophy,
as one's ways of living
against self supreme as being,
overturning certainty,
destination and determination,
crashing again into unknowns.

One regards being in world
as a mystery to be loved,
not a problem to be solved
by some final solution,
for life is no construction,
although it is constituted
by experiences happening,
expected and otherwise.

Answers are elegantly simple,
like proofs when you see them,
you shout "Aha" to its work,
you feel convinced of truth,
you know you are like God,
so much more than mere mortals,
the hoi polloi of the crowds,
of the unsanctified people.

Questions are deserts bare,
traverses cross them,
leave faint tracks eroding,
unprepared, ill-equipped,
raging fools die there,
their flesh soon eaten up,
their bones buried now and then,
re-exposed by random winds.

Questions are waters,
vapors condensing,
raining over dry lands,
tears, drops and puddles,
ponds, lakes and oceans,
brooks and creeks,
streams and rivers.

Questions are empty skies,
full of clouds, birds, stars,
speeding planes and bullets,
mighty rockets and missles,
balls of dust far away from us.

Questions are fires
of book burnings,
wood roaring in pain,
grass papers darkening,
curling in ashes gray,
smoking ruins heating,
clearing away life,
so life can come to be
slowly renewing itself,
recovering for fire.
