[Newspoetry] Immeasurables and Maps

His words hinted at some grander truth,                  She said there was a
God.

But mortal language could not say them,              How could she say this?

For it know nothing of any immortality.                    She spoke as if she
knew.

 

One scholastic said, "It's just an estimate,              She could not describe
Him.

These words."  He was just guessing, then,              She could not explain
Him.

At what he did not know, nor could know.            She could not even speak for
Him.

 

There's no estimating the size of eternity,               Yet, she was speaking
of Him.

It has no measure, or all measuring fails,                  She said God was
Love.

And there's no algorithm to apply to it.                  I thought, "So what is
Love?"

 

A thing has no measure, no extent at all,              She maps unknowns
together,

Because it does not exist in materiality,                  The map is in her
imagination,

It's all so unreal, so magical a fantasy.                    A Torah scroll
hides her a way.
