Goodbye, Cruel World
Yes, fans of ever turning heavens,
Winter is bowing out, a bit silently,
Unmourned, as usual, even cheered
And gaily buried as best forgotten.
When Springs die, poet lovers sigh,
For all the stuffing of sex pops out.
Summer's passing to Fall is moaned -
Students regret their lost freedom -
Even Fall's falling is never welcomed,
Gladness marks its holidays of death:
Christmas or Hanukah, aka Kwanzaa.
Passover, X-Easter or Enigmatic Tet
Gaily greet the greening of Spring.
Winter dies unmourned and unloved -
Even as if it starts as if a New Year,
Full of false, silly, chilly promises -
Celebrating as Death claims Old Age,
The Fall from Grace that Youth is -
Ouster from The Garden, Winter is.
Goodbye, cruel world, Winter moans,
Unmourned and unbemoaned by all.
