Did voters take the time to think 4 years ago?

What do you really need in a president? Is this one person going to have complete control over the country? No. The main thing the next US president needs is a friendly, at least semi-intelligent face. Your major problem is that when they think of 'Americans', the majority of the world thinks you're all mentally deficient, brush-clearing jesus freaks with speech disorders. If I was an American, I'd be voting for the person who can fix the *image* of the US. Your *brand* is what people hate and attack. They don't have a clue what Americans are actually like.

In a few years the world's concept of an 'American' will either be an overly aggressive, elderly version of dubya, a pro-life, creationist pit-bull/hockey-mom, or an attractive, friendly, intelligent, mixed-race idealist. Which of those sounds least likely to induce the hatred of an entire planet?

Aside from the morons who base their vote on either skin-colour or whether or not the candidate has a uterus, who could really hate Obama? On the other hand, I think if McCain gets in, this time instead of Americans threatening to move to Canada, you'll see Canadians moving away from border cities to avoid whatever horrible violence comes next.

Americans are supposedly concerned with security. What could threaten your security more than continuing to let your country be run by aggressive whack-jobs on missions from god?

Please forgive the ranting. We just get too much US news here in Canada.
Jay
