To GWB camp.
Re "security"

While terrorism may be awful, so was crime --
and yet, by portraying the other side as soft on crime,
we were able to pull the political center strongly to the right.
We are now engaged in a greater effort
to portray the other side as soft on terrorism.

Politically speaking, we won the war on crime
and we shall win the war on terrorism as well
if we stick to the idea that no idea is too radical to endorse,
so that we shall always upstage the other side
by boldly disregarding all reluctance
in an escalating tide of rhetoric for policy
that is ever more radical in its tones.

We shall boldly go
where the other side fears to go
and will morally equivocate,
as the seeming nitpicking gnats that they are.

Our codeword shall be "security"
for it has no meaning whatsoever
when we can always manufacture,
as we did with the Iraq issue, recently,
allegations of our secret knowledge
of unknown serious threats to security.

And, our post-election victories,
in the legislative bundles we teased through Congress,
shall make it even easier to manufacture
threats to terrorize the people in the future,
for now we can hire and fire, at will, almost every federal worker,
and, more importantly, not only can we hire and fire them
for giving the public any information upon our conspiracy,
we can also prosecute them, criminally, for such acts
as were once lawful and mandatory under FOIA --
and, not only that, we can easily spy out
any public employee who would think to betray us anonymously,
because the same laws let us spy at will
on anyone that we designate a security risk.

In short, then, we shall not have the kinds of problems
that let Richard Nixon get kicked around and kicked out of office,
because all the illegal things that he did
are now perfectly legal acts for our administration.

Isn't this a fine security blanket for us?
How could we ever lose another election?

Triumphantly and most humbly,
Karl
