As Ricky's original post suggests, there is an ambiguity about the term
"labor": does it mean American workers or "organized labor"?  There's a
big difference. The AFL-CIO plus the unaffiliated unions represent
scarcely more than 10% of the US workforce.  If you include the other 90%,
you get not only the explicitly insurgent groups, but many Americans with
a variety of views that are programmatically not represented by their
official spokespeople, in government or organized labor.  --CGE
