[Peace-discuss] signs question

I agree with targeting the "support our troops" issue.  I also think that
alot of pro-war people view peace protesters as simply unable to deal with
the harsh realities of a harsh world.  In my own yard and personal
conversations, I am working against that stereotype- not by condoning
violence, but by giving my audience some harsh realities of their own to
deal with:

Our Democracy is Dying
Democracy Demands Truth
Bush is Lying to Us (I am checking with my lawyer because I started to worry
about that one- even though I could easily prove it's accuracy in court)
Why don't we start asking why our government blocked investigation of 9-11?
Why don't we ask why the White House took control over the Air Force on 9-11
(before the bombings) and then refused to allow AF pilots to scramble the
hijacked jets?

(Etc etc.  There is a great deal of highly disturbing information out there
about this stuff...)

These types of questions about 9-11 were popping up more and more in the
media one year ago when all of a sudden Hussein began to "threaten" us so
much that it required unquestioning, absolute loyalty to our President and
his government.

I think it is highly relevant to counter issues of patriotism, support for
our country, President, way of life, etc. and appreciation for our
"freedoms" with some hardhitting questions and accusations...

It is not like we are all sitting around, fully informed, and simply
disagree about things how to respond to the facts, and about personal
perceptions about right and wrong (though, of course that is there to some
unknown degree).  That is how so many view the debate at this point.  The
facts themselves are basically entirely fabricated to start with, and maybe
some people will care about that!

This latest %$#^ about California is just too much.  I cannot even believe
they are gonna try to pull this off!  :(  I plan to forward that story
around with the question:  "Are you insulted enough yet?"

P.S.  My yard protests signs brought me two visitors today- someone brought
me cookies and someone else brought me a plant.  It made my day!  We all
need to take care of each other!!!!
