I agree, and I'd second any amount we can afford to take from the treasury. I'd suggest closer to $300, tho....

And guys, when someone sticks a camera in your face, flash them a smile and a peace sign, no stomping on cameras, okay?

I am so grateful you are doing this.

Even though I won't be present at today's meeting, I'm still proposing that AWARE contribute $100 (others may propose a different amount) to United for Peace and Justice in support of the Republican National Convention demonstration in New York.

UFPJ has been planning this demonstration for over a year, and though they've met with overwhelming resistance from the authorities, they will be marching perhaps hundreds of thousands of folks (including Jan and Durl Kruse who will attend in person representing AWARE) right past Madison Square Garden (where the RNC will be held).

UFPJ is a nationwide umbrella organization of hundreds of Peace and Justice groups (and AWARE is a member). They are the foremost organizer of anti-war demonstrations (they were the ones that organized the 500,000 strong Feb 15, 2003 demonstration prior to the war).

They are appealing for funds to cover the cost of the upcoming demonstration and I'm proposing that although we aren't organizing a trip to go out there (Jan and Durl are going on their own), we can and should support this effort by sending in a contribution.

Thanks
R
