Consider coming out to hear Sherman Alexie, a Spokane/Coeru d"Alene Indian from Wellpinit, Washington who has written many books - both novels and poetry, as well as working on several films. He's irreverant, sharp, and funny with a lot to say about racism, popular culture, and his experiences straddling two cultures. I really recommend his book of poetry "One Stick Song", a movie based on his work - "Smoke Signals" and his most recent film - "The Business of Fancy Dancing" (about a gay Indian man who returns to the reservation for the first time in years).
