Dear Friend,

FCC Chairman Michael Powell just announced that he's blowing off yet anothe r of his own public hearings on how well (or poorly) media are serving citi zens. Powell called for these hearings to provide political cover after his
 disastrous attempt to let huge media corporations get even bigger, a move  that was rejected by millions of Americans, Congress, and the Courts.

Hours before Powell's last hearing in South Dakota he announced a sudden "s cheduling conflict" -- dinner at the White House. Now he's skipping out on  today's hearing in Monterey, CA. Funny -- he had plenty of time last week t o enjoy several industry gatherings in nearby Menlo Park and San Francisco.


So who is Powell listening to -- big business or you?

We need you to join FCC Commissioners Adelstein and Copps, thousands of cit izens, labor unions and members of Congress in calling for official hearing s across the country that all FCC Commissioners must attend.

Why is Chairman Powell avoiding the public? In January in San Antonio, Texa s, a rowdy crowd of hundreds taught Powell a very vocal lesson about public
 interest media policy -- for nearly 7 hours.  Isn't it time the people in  your state had an opportunity to give Powell their own demonstration of del iberative democracy?
