Actually, I think what most everyone is missing 
here is that the Justice Dept and CIA have 
legalized  certain torture techniques for 
suspected al-Queda members.  This was in a 
front-page feature NYT's story last week. They 
are apologizing on one-hand and legalizing 
torture on the other.
