[Peace-discuss] letter to my former comrades

Robert--

I think there are two traps yawning before the Left at the moment: one is
to believe that Republican dirty tricks (of which there seem to have been
a lot) produced a more than 3.5-million vote edge ("Kerry really won"):
the other is to assume that Bush voters are simply too stupid to
appreciate the higher truths available to Kerry voters.

Here's an admittedly somewhat hasty account of what the Bush voter looked
like to me:

	November 6, 2004
	News from Neptune
	Who Killed Cock Robin?

Many on the soi-disant Left in the US are saying that the Republican
victory is due to the Christian Right, and some conclude then that the
paramount task for the Left is to attack religion (forgetting perhaps the
conscious ambiguity in the famous image of the people's painkiller).
Recalling the truism that, in the absence of a correct analysis, the best
will in the world can only err, we might try to find out why Bush won. Who
voted for him?... [see <http://counterpunch.org/estabrook11062004.html>]

Regards, Carl
