This week's guest on Media Matters is Tariq Ali. Born in 
Lahore, Pakistan, Tariq Ali is an internationally renowned 
political commentator, novelist, filmmaker, and playwright 
based in London. He was prominently involved in 60s antiwar 
and radical politics; Mick Jagger, a personal friend, is said 
to have written "Street Fighting Man" in his honor. He has 
written more than a dozen books on world history and 
politics, including the bestseller "The Clash of 
Fundamentalisms: Crusades, Jihads, and Modernity," and "Bush 
in Babylon: The Recolonization of Iraq." He has written five 
novels, scripts for both stage and screen, and is an editor 
of the New Left Review.

syndicated columnist on media and politics. He is the founder 
and executive director of the Institute for Public Accuracy, 
a national consortium of policy researchers and analysts. A 
longtime associate of the media watch group FAIR (Fairness & 
Accuracy In Reporting), Solomon has written ten books on 
media criticism and corporate malfeasance. His latest 
book, ?Target Iraq: What the News Media Didn?t Tell You? (co-
authored with foreign correspondent Reese Erlich), was 
published in 2003 by Context Books.
