Christian leftists have a magazine called "Sojouners." That may be a good place for progressive evangelicals to look for groups to participate in.

As far as progressives' negative attitudes about "evangelical" christianity goes, blame the right-wing evangelicals who get all of the press as they stomp all over everybody else's freedom and shill for the capitalists while conning working class people out of their money.

Perhaps progressive evangelicals should speak up in their own churches and try to shape the congregations' political agenda. If someone is pro-life, it should follow that they're anti-war, anti-death penalty, anti-nuclear weapons, pro-universal health care, and pro-environment.

Should'nt the Greens incorporate a "Religious Left"? The Democrats have not done that and when they do they sound incredibly stupid. I believe that there are other left-wing evangelicals out there. Some of them go to places like Vinyard and New Covenant but dont have an avenue to argue progressive causes using Biblical and moral language.

I think it can be done. I am just so pissed off at the fact that the only "voice" for evangelicals is the Right.

Progressives, HELP!!! We need you now more than ever. The vast majority of evangelical church goers are poor or are working class. We need you now more than ever!
