[Peace-discuss] Zionist Propaganda and the DI

Hi David, et.al,
 
I too have noticed the organized Zionist propganda offensive coming from the pages of the DI this semester.  
 
My guess is that the DI faced fierce right-wing, and esp. Zionist, pressure last year due to several excellent columns written on Israel/Palestine.  However, that they now seem to have a quota of two full-time propagandists suggests that there is more going on here than meets the eye.  
 
The basis of the new "Opinions" page seems to be, that like most so-called "mainstream" media outlets, the DI is attempting to appease the right by inviting in fascistic Big Liars (I don't use the word "fascistic" lightly-- but if you saw the Blog where Sobodka attacked Green, there can be no doubt about the violent and ultra-reactionary nature of these people).  The right-wingers are "balanced" on the left by two out-and-out liberal Democrats.  Thus the whole opionions page has shifted sharply to the right in the space of one year.  
 
What would be interesting to discover is whether or not the DI adapted itself to the Zionist ultra-right in reaction to some sort of official pressure coming from local or national groups.
