Hi Neil,
I think your letter to Francis Boyle sounds good. Other contacts will be suggested to you, but also try Joe Miller - Vets Against War - @ jtmiller at uiuc.edu (I think that's the right Joe Miller....) Also, good info from Friend's (Quaker) groups. I think the idea is to establish yourself/selves as COs early on, and document that you are long-time proponents of non-violence. Good luck.
Any other ideas out there?

Dear AWARE,
A letter to Francis Boyle at the Law School about anti- militarism/conscription campaign.
Dear Professor Boyle:
My name is Nick Dahlheim, a senior in political science, and a member of AWARE. I am deeply concerned about the direction this country is taking under the corrupt Bush
regime. In particular, the specter of the Iraq war and the very real possibility of expanded war in the Middle East
driven by neocons, the Pentagon, oil companies, and Wall Street could force a renewal of forced conscription within the next year. That frightening possibility notwithstanding (regardless of who may occupy the White House) comes with the backdrop of a rising militarism whereby the military has engaged in increased level of recruiting as well as high
levels of stop loss orders to keep the troop levels high
enough to sustain the U.S.-led occupation of Iraq. We at AWARE are looking to fight this militarism, military
recruitment, and to prepare for the possibility of a draft right now in Champaign-Urbana and at the University of Illinois. We are interested in understanding our options in fighting these government policies from a legal perspective. AWARE would greatly appreciate your input and assistance in generating an effective local political movement to fight this movement.
Sincerely,
Nick Dahlheim
