[Peace-discuss] Senate votes torture apologist AG

The Senate has voted to confirm Alberto Gonzales, one of the architects of
the US torture policy, as Attorney General. Fewer senators voted against
him (36) than voted against John Ashcroft (42).

Altho' I haven't seen a complete list yet, it seems that all the
Republicans voted for him, and all the Democrats (and the one independent)
voted against him -- with six exceptions.  The following Democrats each
cast a vote to confirm Gonzales, a vote that inescapably endorses the
torture policies of the Bush Administration:

(1) Senator Ken Salazar (Colorado).

(2) Senator Joseph Lieberman (Conn.).

(3) Senator Ben Nelson (Neb.).

(4) Senator Mary Landrieu (La.)

(5) Senator Pryor (Ark).

(6) Senator Bill Nelson (Fla.)
