[This is being circulated by the Democratic National Committee
press office, hence the tone, but here are multiple ironies
here for our representative to the federal government -- whose
greatest publicity in two terms in Congress came from founding
the "Civility Caucus" with Rep. Israel (D-NY). (The host of
the party is his nephew.)--CGE]

WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 /U.S. Newswire/ -- At least one of the
Republican National Committee-sponsored house parties held to
coincide with President Bush's State of the Union Address has
devolved into a hate-filled meeting of GOP activists. The
party, whose announcement was posted and paid for by the RNC
on their website, includes a "Jesse Jackson piñata" and a dunk
tank featuring the organizer's wife dressed as Senator Hillary
Clinton. Not only is the RNC highlighting this party, but
Illinois Republican Congressman Tim Johnson is listed as a
featured guest.

"Congressman Johnson should be ashamed of himself," said
Democratic National Committee spokesman Damien LaVera. "By
associating himself with a party dominated by over-the-top
personal attacks, Congressman Johnson has shown just how out
of touch he is with Illinois voters. Congressman Johnson
should immediately distance himself from this hate-filled
stunt and join Democrats in working to restore honor and
integrity to the Nation's Capital."
