> the Israeli response has been woefully excessive. - David Gill

Dr. Gill's response brings up a question in my mind. How do we get politicians to make the stronger statements? At some point, they all are afraid of offending people. But the good ones entered politics because they had strong feelings.

This morning David Inge interviewed the Pentagon Correspondent for the Washing Post, and repeatedly Mr. Ricks said that Congress just did not demand the answers before the invasion of Iraq.

By the way, the book sounds pretty good.

Hi Carl,

While the actions of Hezbollah were immoral and violated international law, I agree with many observers around the world who feel that the Israeli response has been woefully excessive. The Bush Administration has also been irresponsible in failing to join the rest of the Security
Council in their early calls for a cease fire.

Best wishes,
David
