Dear Peace List,

This is closely related to Carl's posts to the lists under the thread
"[Peace-discuss] Israel panelists' positions".

1) There has been a suggestion that we change the name of the panel
about Israel.
The title is currently: "The Confrontation of Israel with its Neighbors"
The suggestion is that we change it to: "Relations among Nations in the
Middle East"

2) The second concern is that the panelists make balanced presentations.

See the email below from the Quakers.

Hi Karen,

I write as head of the Peace and Service committee of the
Urbana-Champaign Friends Meeting. Our committee is concerned that
the panelists make balanced presentations. For example, the title
"The Confrontation of Israel with its Neighbors" can be regarded as
having an anti-Israeli tone. A more neutral title such as "Relations
among Nations in the Middle East" might be desirable. This panel
might have Israeli and non-Israeli speakers, perhaps a hard-line and
a soft-line speaker on each side. We will consider co-sponsoring
this event once topics and speakers are definite.

cheers, Jay
