[Peace-discuss] school board elections in Champaign and Urbana

If you read the News-Gazette editorial today, you'll find endorsements for four candidates, all white and conservative, with the possible exception of Novak (in the conservative sense). Candidates being supported by the progressive community include M. Rosales, Alcantara, and Jackson, as well as Banks (uncontested). What they seem to have in common is a penchant not to blame parents and families first for the problems kids have at schools, as do especially Grey and Chalifoux, and probably Bambenek, although he was relatively well behaved at a recent forum.

  RE: Champaign School Board
I am not sure about Novak with regards to the Consent Decree.

Perhaps David Green and Vicky have something more to add about the Champaign School Board candidates.

There are people running for 2 year and 4 year terms.

Warning: John Bambanek (aka Bambi) is running as well.
