Hey Neil, thanks for defending me on this point.  I am glad someone sees that my view on this matter is 
not one of utter despair.  Bill, if you really feel I shouled be kicked off the listserv I think you are one 
whose committment to progressive values and freedom of speech should be questioned.  I sometimes get 
carried away with my frustration with the current direction of society, and so my vitriolic diatribes 
sometimes reveal that emotion quite strongly.  But, I think my voice is important and its contrarian 
position is good.  I don't think we should ignore the goings on in Washington DC, but I strongly feel that 
spending a lot of energy on political activism there is most certainly counterproductive.  Going more local 
is the only way to address the political-economic crisis this country faces.  And yes, we have enshrined the 
corporations with too much power---playing their game on their turf simply won't work for us in the long 
run.  Thanks.
