Carl writes "I think the antiwar movement would be irrelevant, though, if 
we did this [backing the Democrats]. We'll be much more effective if we 
articulate our own principles and demands--including immediate 
withdrawal--and fight for them."

I think this is accurate. Although many Democrats are active in supporting 
the anti-war movement, the anti-war movement should stick to its issues and 
not back a particular party.
