"Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in!" - The Godfather III

Just as much as I failed to enjoy that movie, I am failing to enjoy
the recent volley of snark on Peace Discuss. Do we all really not
have anything better to do than toss back verbal e-grenades about the
rules of a listserv? If you're against the current Democratic front
group alphabet soup named organization whose name escapes me at the
current moment, then I'd suggest that you don't join the organization
and/or do not attend their events. It works for me. This whole idea
that nobody wants to just say "Enough!" and just end it is like
eating cereal with spoiled milk in the bowl -- after you figure out
the milk is bad, don't keep eating.

This is getting thoroughly embarrassing that we have such behavior
regularly occurring. Once or twice would be okay but this now seems
nothing short of deliberate snark for snark's sake. I get more than
my fill of hate spew from watching the joke of Judiciary hearings and
watching both parties try to garner the support of the 60+% of
Americans opposed to the war by saying that we will have a withdrawal
-- but keep soldiers in Iraq permanently for X, Y, and Z reasons.

If we had this kind of energy in not only organizing people for the
short term but knowing what to do with these people effectively when
we have them, we'd have an obnoxiously strong and sustained local
anti-war movement that would be highly popular among most of the
community. Just my .02 to add to the discussion.

Don't mourn. Organize,

I read somewhere that when a person takes part in community action,
his health improves. Something happens to him or to her
biologically. It's like a tonic.
