[Peace-discuss] US "Sociocide" in Iraq; Democratic capitulation

This article points to the magnitude and the many faces of the destruction of Iraq resulting from its enounter with American imperialism.  We are bearing witness to one of the great crimes of world history.   Meanwhile, the curtain falls over the phony Congressional Democratic Party opposition to the war.  The theater has been poorly acted from the start, but now--the Second Act!--the stage is being set for the Democratic presidential hopefuls, hawks every one, to temporarily dawn the ill-fitting costume of the dove.  The audience's suspension of disbelief, however, becomes increasingly difficult to maintain.  The actors' roles are too complex; their performances threadbare.  Outside the ticket vendors of American liberalism and pressure politics watch as their cue shortens.  Alarmed, they cry out to the Democratic actors on stage.  Alas!  The carefully-worded script is master, and the actors know well who writes the checks.  The show must go on!...
