I'm fat enough and old enough.  I volunteer, as long as I can dress like 
Daddy Warbucks and don't have to wear a cat costume.

I can absolutely assure you that the vast majority of your neighbors and 
fellow citizens find no irony in the theme whatsoever.  "Free" enterprise 
is their religion, and they are evangelical fundamentalists.  It doesn't 
have to be true; they merely have to have faith in it.

I can further assure you that a goodly number of your fellow AWAREistas 
experience absolutely no cognitive dissonance between their own 
self-righteousness and their economic self-interest relative to the rest of 
the world.  They're riding in the Hummer, not pushing it.  They can rail 
indignantly against Wal-Mart because they're affluent enough not to have to 
shop there.
