General Motors, under the leadership of Alfred P. Sloan, started the Opel car company in Germany.  
Despite Ford's praises of Hitler and virulent Anti-Semitism, Sloan and GM were far more influential backers 
of Hitler than Ford....  See Edwin Black's article on this subject on a Google search.
