I can imagine anyone finding a way to corrupt an election. Just making the
popular vote the standard through either dispensing with the Electoral
College or by redistributing electoral votes as Laurie suggested might
manage to make the job somewhat harder. 

Voter fraud is nothing new and it doesn't even have a specific party
affiliation. How many dead people voted for JFK? I do think the manner in
which our current system is set up does make it easier to engage in
practices of misconduct.

Sounds good to me.  Go ahead and implement that system nationwide, Marti, 
in time for the next election if you can.  I don't imagine the Republicans 
would be able to figure out any way of corrupting an election based on the 
POPULAR vote. :-P
