Pops,
It was kinda weird, actually. The torture thing initially got 3/5 of those voting, which allowed it to be discussed further, then failed to get even the simple majority needed for placement on the ballot (go figure) and therefore will NOT appear as a referendum item in November (it probably would have made it on if Bush and Johnson hadn't been named specifically -- Jim Phillips said it was too much like polliticking, even tho' neither Bush nor Johnson would be running in November -- and that may have moved some to change their final vote). Proposal to STUDY idea of putting water under municipal control went down immediately -- failed to get even close to 3/5 needed for further discussion and vote (really surprising to me). Transparency of contracts got 'way more than 3/5 for discussion, and then a very large majority for placement on the ballot. So essentially 1 out of 3 made it on (and btw the 'Chief" was never mentioned). A good turnout w/ disappointing (and mystifying)
 results.

So what happened here, kids? Can anyone furnish a short summary
report? Thanks.
