[Peace-discuss] July 4th float panel drafts

Hi all,

Please look over the current slate of images for our float, attached as 7
separate Acrobat PDF files. Image resolutions are on the low side for
these files to keep sizes manageable (meaning the photo images might be a
little blocky/grainy). The proofs I print will be higher resolution.

This is not necessarily the final lineup (and not necessarily the final
wording/captions). The July 4th working group will make the final call,
but more input and discussion is always beneficial and can only improve
the end result.

Other folks/quotes thrown out, but not followed up on include:

Matthis Chiroux - IVAW Sgt. who is refusing order to deploy to Iraq
Dwight Eisenhower - including a short quote regarding his thoughts on the
"military-industrial complex"
Howard Zinn - He's a WW II vet
Scott Ritter - plenty of material to choose from
Gen. Sherman -  "War is Hell"
any of the Iraq "Winter Soldiers"

What we need, obviously, is a reasonably decent image, a short, pertinent,
striking anti-war quote and details on service (Army, Navy, etc.) and rank
(PFC, General, Sergeant, etc.). If someone is willing to do the work to
track that down, I can put together an image for consideration by the July
4th Working Group.

Alternatively, I've also attached a MS Word template that you could use to
put a proof together yourself.

The final images will wind up being 7 feet tall by 6 feet wide on the
float itself.
