[Peace-discuss] Winter Soldier live simulcast: Lincoln Hall rm 106, tonight (Fri), 6:00-7:30pm! and other events

There's been some confusion so here is the scoop on the
live simulcast of the Winter Soldier event from Washington DC,
from Alex of CAN:

 Fri 3/14  6:00-7:30pm  Lincoln Hall room 106

    Friday 3/14 - Watch history in the making by attending a live
    simulcast of "Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan" from 6-7:30PM,
    Lincoln Hall, Rm. 106.  This is being broadcast live from Washington,
    D.C. as veterans opposed to the war tell their side of the story.

Don't miss this event!   Organized by Iraq Veterans Against the War.

The event is also being streamed over the internet: see the IVAW web site,
    http://www.ivaw.org
It is ongoing -- started Thursday, runs through Sun 3/16 -- so you can
hear/watch more of the events in DC over the coming days.



Other upcoming events:

 Sat  3/15  7:30pm Boardman's Theater, downtown Champaign

   "Taxi to the Dark Side", a film about US practice of imprisonment and
   torture at Guantanamo Bay, opens at Boardmans Theater in Champaign
   on Friday 3/14.  Will probably be there for a couple of weeks,
   according to someone at the theater tonight.

   Let's go, those who can, to the Saturday 3/15 showing at 7:30pm.  
   Karen Medina has arranged with the theater people -- it sounds like
   they'll let us stick around awhile after the film to discuss it!


 Wed  3/19  5:00pm-6:15pm  Urbana Veterans' Memorial, Broadway & Main

   Vigil to mark the beginning of a sixth year of US invasion of Iraq.
   This is a solemn observance, not a demonstration, so please
   no political signs.

   Wear dark clothes or a black armband if you have one.
   Come when you can.


 Wed  3/19  various times  United Church of Christ vigil observance
   The nationwide United Church of Christ is calling for
   a day of lament, action, and hope,
   on the 5-year anniversary of the war in Iraq:

	  "100,000 Lights for Peace"

   Community United Church of Christ, with Rev. Mike Mulberry,
   at 805 S. Sixth St. in Champaign, is participating.
   Their bells will toll at 8:00am, 12:15pm, and 7:00pm,
   and they'll be holding a vigil -- details yet to come.
