Comrades may be interested in what is happening in Turkey where I live.
The state machine is spilt right down the middle. On one side is the ruling party, the AKP, who originally represented the islamic movement and the rising provincial bourgoisie. On the other is the army, civil service and old elite in the Ankara, istanbul and Izmir areas. This split has create a chance for all the long-hidden scandals in the Turkish system to emerge.
These are currently focussed on a major prosecution and trial that the government has launched against nearly 150 leading figures in Turkish society (retired general, admirals, police chiefs, politicians, businessmen, fascists etc.). They are alleged to be part of a gang called Ergenekon who organised a series of assassinations, bombings etc. and had planned to overthrow the current government.
