This May Day...FUNK THE WARS


5pm, Main Quad, UIUC

Join
a coalition of progressive groups this May 1st to celebrate the Left
and protest the numerous wars dragging our country down.

>From 10am-4pm, the organization Four Walls and a Roof, which is raising
money to build a women's shelter in Cotacachi, Ecuador, will be hosting
a QUAD QUAKE silent dance party to help the women of Cotacachi.  In
addition, a myrid of progressive groups will be out all day with
information tables set up.


Then at 5pm, the funk will begin.  Speakers and musicians will ensure that the Quad is THE place
to be if you're a progressive, Leftist, radical, or any other related
ideological identity.  Speakers will include representatives from the
Graduate Employees Organization, Campus Antiwar Network, Amnesty
International, Green Party and Campus Greens, the International
Socialist Organization, and Iraq Veterans Against the War, as well as
an open mic session to let you get your own funk on.


The progressive movement on campus doesn't stop
then, however!  The next day, Students for a Sensible Drug Policy will
be holding Champaign's "Million Marijuana March" at 2pm at the Alma
Mater, and at 7pm on Saturday, Four Walls and a Roof are hosting a
benefit show at the McKinley Foundation.  Get ready for an entire
weekend of getting your funk on!
