[Peace-discuss] petition period has begun for next year's D and R primaries

I would like to emphasize the need for strong U.S. House candidates in all Congressional Districts in Illinois.
The signature requirement for Greens wanting to run for U.S. House is absurdly low: depending on the district, it ranges from about 15-45 (paradoxically, this is far lower than the signature requirement to run for state Congress, despite the fact that a U.S. congressional district usually encompasses several state-level districts).
This means that if we don't find genuine progressives who espouse Green values, we risk having these ballot lines co-opted by god knows what.
There must be someone in central Illinois that would be willing to challenge the two parties of war and corporate greed in the 15th district. And I don't want to hear anything about how Gill is pretty good as far as Democrats go. That is entirely irrelevant.

Best,
Matt Reichel
