[Peace-discuss] Letter in today's N-G: Germany isn't at war with Jews

I checked the News-Gazette online and this is what I found in the opinions
section.

While I don't agree with Mr. Bruner's perspective on the war between Israel
and Palestine - I ask if this letter that you published is in the print
edition as opposed to the online edition. Or is this a separate article from
the opinion section?  I don't subscribe to the News-Gazette and would like
to know how I can verify the information.
Israel isn't at war with Palestinians Sunday January 11, 2009

Reporting in most media and in The News-Gazette about the Israeli-Hamas
conflict does not adequately take account of the following:

– That Hamas places rocket launchers in schools, weapons stores in mosques,
and militants in populations centers. The tragedy in Jebaliya, according to
the Israel Defense Forces, was precipitated first by Hamas mortar fire from
the school. The Israelis fired back at the source of the mortar fire. Why
would any civilized government place its citizens at such risk, using them
as human shields?

– That Israel telephones houses that are targets 30 minutes before
attacking, giving the residents time to leave.

– That Israel sends to Gaza hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid as well as
aid from international agencies in the form of food staples and medical
supplies.

– That it was Hamas that broke the cease-fire, and has launched more than
8,000 missiles and rockets into southern Israel in the period since 2001. As
Barack Obama has said, if anyone was shooting at the house where his
daughters slept, he would do something about it. So would I.

– That this war is not between the Israelis and the Palestinians but is
between Israel and Hamas.

As Golda Meir said long ago, "This war will end when they love their
children more than they hate us."
