[Peace-discuss] Why are we in Afghanistan? Etc.?

With all due respect, we are more sophisticated than that; we know that we
cannot just go out and kill people but must mask our killing to make it
acceptable to us and others. It is true that the lives of those (both
Amerikans and foreigners) killed have no value for us unless it is someone
that belongs to our family (and even then it is not always the case that
their lives have any value). However, this only enables us to do the killing
without remorse; but it does not explain or give a reason for the killing.

Swift's modest proposal is well in line with my Guppy theory of child
rearing: "eat your young!"

No. If our main aim were to kill people,
we'd do it 'way more efficiently than our current wars do.
We kill people because their lives just don't matter to us.

For a reason why they might matter, may I refer you to
Jonathan Swift's Modest Proposal,
