[Peace-discuss] Fwd: [Peace] Re: Memorial in Champaign-Urbana this Saturday for Dr. Tiller?

Prayer vigil? Given that Dr. Tiller was killed while attending church, I
assume he was a religious person, and if someone wants to organize a prayer
event, that's fine I guess. Many of Dr. Teller's supporters are
nonreligious persons, and I'd hope that anything that AWARE sponsors would
focus on the aspects of Tiller's life that we can all agree on: keeping
abortion safe, legal, and accessible and rallying in support of the brave
physicians who risk their lives to keep places like PPECI open as full
service women's health clinics.

*I am writing this e-mail in response to an e-mail sent from local artist
and reproductive justice advocate Heather Ault, whose e-mail you should be
able to access below for reference.*

Dear Heather and Everyone,

I, too, was shocked and devastated by the death of Dr. George Tiller and am
so happy to know that you're interested in organizing something in his
honor. I've copied your e-mail along with this one to Lena Hann, Education
Programs Coordinator at Planned Parenthood and would love to help organize a
prayer vigil. I haven't heard of something already underway, but perhaps
Lena could let us know of whether Planned Parenthood would be a great site
for the vigil--and I think it would!

I'll be forwarding this message around and looking forward to organizing
something for this Saturday. (I should also mention that a friend of mine
and my partner Michael's was just pronounced terminally ill and has only a
few short days to live. Because of this, I may be out of town, but I will
certainly do all I can to make the vigil happen-- even if I cannot be
present.)

Let's open up a dialogue here about where, when, and how we can honor Dr.
George Tiller.

In peace,
Rachel Storm
