[Peace-discuss] Fwd: [Peace] Re: Memorial in Champaign-Urbana this Saturday for Dr. Tiller?

Those of us who think that Abortion is wrong,
and in many ways worse than plain old ordinary murder,
would also lament that this executioner was killed in this way.

We should not condone the violence done to Dr. Tiller anymore than
we ought to condone the violence done to his innocent victims.
Perhaps he wasn't a really bad man, just a misguided fellow doing a job.
We ought not analogize him with a contract killer. The law doesnt
seem to forbid what he did and that makes it alright, or so it seems.

So the "violent do not die a natural death". Lao Zi claimed that fact was
already an ancient truth in his time. And so it went with Dr. Tiller.

Interesting that he felt the need to attend church, but was betrayed,
inasmuch
as the "church" he attended was lax in ministering the truth that should
have caused
Tiller to awaken and turn away from his murderous profession. Maybe he
was unlucky,
that next week's sermon would have been just the one he needed. Maybe
the truth
was only available on occasional Sundays, and no one warned Tiller or
pointed out the
schedule. Perhaps the schedule is not normally publicized, and the
laity is left with the
puzzle of sorting it out. No use to spoon-feed or force-feed truth.
After all, the ministers
do have a church to run, ya know.

Tiller's murderer is hardly a hero. We reserve such honours for those
who are
thwarting terrorists in the sands of far-off foreign lands. But I am
wondering if maybe
the guy who "picks up where Tiller left off" might decide to look over
his shoulder
every now and then, and wonder if it is worth it, and some how a baby
slips through
the cracks, and is spared from paying the ultimate price for someone
else's error.

What now?
