Myself and Dave Powers were at the IMC at 11am today, and we confirmed the APRIL Potluck ( Sunday March 5th ).

That wasn't the problem.

The problem was ( is ) the Friday May 1st to Sunday May 3rd weekend, which was ( is ) going to be the Central Illinois Social Forum / May Potluck.

Sunday May 3rd is booked solid almost all day and evening.

We booked Saturday May 2nd from 1pm to 12 midnight.

Dave Powers will follow-up with the shows committee on Thursday night.

At the meeting on Saturday we will all need to meet and deceide what we want to do as far as ; workshops, entertainment, films, etc.. and narrow down the time frame possibly.

There has been lots of conversation and ideas but little communication and coordination amongst ; committees, organizations and individuals, leading to confusion.

The above will be the main purpose for the meeting on Saturday.

In my opinion, we need to discuss the possibility of having a coordinating committee or individual(s), to prevent future confusion.

Now I see that Belden wants to change the time of the meeting Saturday from 3-5pm to 2-4pm, in order that C-U Citizens people can attend.
That is a good idea, but we need to have that confirmed SOON, so that we can get an e-mail out to people asap.

David J.

Ed emailed me back and said he believed the potluck we had was a one time deal and the rotation was news to him.

We are also going to have to look at how much it will cost to book the space for future potlucks - compared to the Urbana Civic Center the IMC is really cost effective. I will check with Joy on the costs for the one in April.

I got this email from Joy who handles the finances....

I will check into the dates the Dance Club has reserved on Sunday evenings and get back with you.

For clarification, all users of the space are to pay usage fees regardless of admission. When admission is charged, then we request that you pay an additional $1 per person.

Marti, has Central Illinois Social Forum submitted a Space Usage Agreement? If not, we need to get an agreement (with exact dates), deposits, and reservation fees. Without this, the group is taking the chance that the space is going to be reserved for another paid event, which will take priority.

When Dance Club has the space reserved, there cannot be a meeting in the library either... just so you know.
