A better indication of US policy in AfPak is the summary dismissal today of the
ROTC general who was in charge of the US war in AfPak ("ending his career," says
DefSec Gates) and his replacement with a West Pointer who was in charge of
"special operations" in Iraq -- death squads and Israeli-style assassinations.

His deputy is to be Gates' own military adviser. No more "baby steps."

This is Obama-style "counter-insurgency."
